Getting There and Away Lying on the north bank of the Humber Estuary, the city of Hull is situated in the county of East Yorkshire, England. The city is linked to others in the North of England via the M62 motorway and by train to London, Leeds and Manchester by several daily train services.
History Hull has a long and varied history and it's true to say this is a city which has had its ups and downs. The city was an important port in the nineteenth century passenger shipping, whaling and commercial fishing were all important industries in the city up until the First World War.
Hull suffered greatly during World War II, during which large sections of the city were destroyed by bombing. More recently, the city has benefited from massive regeneration projects, some of which are still in progress today. Large swathes of the centre and surrounding areas have been completely transformed and economic incentives have attracted investment in the area from both national and international businesses.
Several new Hull hotels have been built as a result of the regeneration, boosting the city's reputation as an excellent place for eating, drinking and sleeping in the North of England.
